The Documentary Producers Alliance is a 100% volunteer organization and relies solely on donations to support its ongoing work and advocacy on behalf of documentary producers.​ Thank you in advance for making a donation through our Givebutter campaign. MEMBERSHIP: Redesigned the DPA Membership Application to account for historic inequity in film crediting. Our new, identity-conscious DPA Membership Application will launch early 2022.

FILM FESTIVAL TASK FORCE: Launched the #ProducersAreFilmmakersToo initiative and released an Open Letter to Film Festival Programmers, Marketing Directors, and Publicists urging for producer recognition in the full film festival experience.

MEMBER CENSUS: The DPA’s Research & Data Committee designed and conducted its first-ever Member-Wide Census which will give us detailed information about who we are as an organization, inform where the DPA is going, and shed light on the realities of our industry for Producers.

ADVOCACY: Shared public support for I.A.T.S.E. throughout their negotiations with AMPTP and partnered with the Producer's Union to host a Town Hall with Local 600 members to discuss what independent producers can do to create and maintain safe work environments for crew.

REGIONAL: Leveraged relationships locally to further the work of the Film Festival Task Force for greater producer recognition.

INTERNATIONAL: Established International partner initiatives with the Documentary Association of Europe including the creation of a joint working group to develop a toolkit on international co-productions.

The presentation at IDFA 2021 of Industry Sessions about International Co-productions (including funding ops, pitfalls, and case studies).

MENTORSHIP: Kicked off the first series of our Office Hours Pilot Program in partnership with FWD-Doc and Undocumented Filmmakers Collective.

ALLYSHIP: Programmed a “What I wish I learned in Film School” webinar in collaboration with Dear Producer.

Supported the ADE and BIPOC Editors’ release of new “Best Practices in Documentary Editing” guidelines and website.

Supported FWD-DOC’s “Toolkit for Inclusion & Accessibility: Changing the Narrative of Disability in Documentary Film”.

FUNDING: Secured an NEA grant toward the development and execution of a series of PRODUCING TOWARD EQUITY workshops.

THE FUTURE: Formed a “Structural Working Group” which was tasked with researching and recommending a sustainable organizational and governance structure for the DPA. Their recommendation to form a 501(c)3 was anonymously voted on by the DPA’s current interim board. .
